Honouring Kaumātua, Connecting Communities

Kaumātua is a community-centered  project that celebrates kaumātua through kōrero and portraiture, culminating in a meaningful book. Rooted in Te Ao Māori, this kaupapa thrives on the involvement of whānau, iwi, and local communities, which are vital to its mauri. More than just a publication, Kaumātua is a treasured taonga that captures the mātauranga of our elders, creating connection and cultural pride. Through the book, exhibitions, and events, Kaumātua preserves and honors the legacy of kaumātua, enriching both Māori and non-Māori communities.
